"IGOR JUNK"
driftwood sculptures

“IGOR JUNK” is the title of my driftwood sculpture collection I created during my visit on Fogo Island. I arrived on Fogo Island, Newfoundland in October 2010 shortly after Hurricane Igor made landfall.

It was my first excursion into the world of sculptures. It is the result of long walks along the shoreline and on the many trails Fogo Island has to offer. I had fun collecting what was washed ashore and rearranging it. Initially I just wanted to help out with the local Partridgeberry Harvest Festival and make the sign for a booth. Then I kept going and within a few days I created a coherent body of work.

I enjoyed the inspiration from this place and the making of the sculptures. I wanted people to see familiar things in an unfamiliar way.
